HERITAGE

The Llanwenog breed was developed in Wales in the 1800's, from crossing a now extinct sheep breed with a Shropshire sheep.

They are now found in Wales and specialist flocks around the UK.

SHEEP

The Llanwenog sheep breed is hornless, with a black face and ears. They have a tuft of fleece on the top of their head, and long hairless legs.

FLEECE

They have a white, soft fleece which is about 6-10cm in length.

The fleece is commonly used in hand knitting yarns and tweed blends.

UNDER A MICROSCOPE

This is a woollen spun Llanwenog yarn, under a microscope.
