HERITAGE

The Portland sheep breed has had a breed society established in Britain since the 19th Century.

They are now classed as a rare breed but can be found in specialist flocks in the South West of England.

SHEEP

The Portland sheep breed is a small sized sheep, with a tan face and legs. They have a tail and cream coloured horns.

FLEECE

The Portland sheep breed have a short and fine fleece. The lambs are born with a red-tinged fleece, which turns lighter as they grow older.

The fleece is popular with crafters, and used in textile blends.
